Kindergarten Teacher

The ideal candidate would possess a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, hold an education certificate; full time teaching experience, and a strong record of quality instruction.

POSITION PURPOSE

The teacher is responsible for the supervision and instruction of the individual classroom assigned.  It is the teacher’s duty to teach the approved curriculum and to use instructional materials and methods which are consistent with the school’s educational and Biblical philosophy.

POSITION SUMMARY

As the spiritual and academic leader of the classroom, the teacher shall prayerfully plan, organize, and implement an excellent academic program on a Christ-centered foundation for students to be prepared to serve, love, and impact the world for Christ.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain an active personal relationship with Christ and regular involvement in a local church.
  • Teach the approved curriculum.
  • Create a loving Christian and safe environment which is conducive to learning.
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans to be reviewed by the Director.
  • Communicate expectations to students and student progress to parents in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Maintain working hours as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding information related to students, parents, or staff.
  • Support the school’s leadership to the parents and community in all written and oral communications.
  • Effectively maintain proper discipline in the classroom and on school premises.
  • Complete any additional administrative requests as determined by the Director.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Teaching credential strongly desired.
  • Ability to work with children and maintain group behavior.

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Has received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior.
  • Agrees with and will abide by the Bridges Christian Church Statement of Faith/What We Believe, Standards of Conduct, and Lifestyle Agreement.
  • Must be present daily and able to attend weekend and evening functions on occasion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Walk, stretch, stand, sit, lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Able to climb stairs; stand for extended periods of time.
  • Supervise students inside and outside of building.
  • Summon help when an emergency arises and assume responsibilities within an incident command structure
